Clan Formation

Clan NCW was formally founded by SilentOne[NCW] and Keldins[NCW] on Monday, October 6th, 2003 at 7:30 PM. A few close friends of Silent's and Keldins' joined soon afterward, including the likes of GEEK, Shroud, and Kamahl. After a week or so, the clan was about ten strong, with the bulk of the population being those the leaders knew from school. Clan Lan parties were held every month or so, with most drawing in between four and six people per event.

Rise

Clan NCW began a massive recruiting campaign a few months into their existence. During this time, many joined NCW and the ranks swelled to approximately fifty members, the largest they have ever been. It was during this time that the famous PUS battle occurred, against rival clan Presidents of the United States. NCW forces, led by SilentOne, completely destroyed the PUS in a riveting match, leading to their disbandment the following week.

Throughout this period, NCW grew through several websites, finally arriving at version six. Members were being newly recruited all the time, and many a bot patrolled the channel, including a highly popular quiz bot. The clan's unique friendliness towards newbies seemed to have an amazing effect, bringing forth suprisingly passionate players from out of the woodwork and into the limelight. Many were suprised to learn that they actually had great potential as StarCraft players, with many being emboldened by their membership, and well trained by their peers.

Decline

In the summer of 2005, NCW's leaders first noticed its decline. A quick change to a new clan website left many members disinterested, and end-of-the-year exams forced
many NCW members out of regular play. Some tricks were tried, for example Silent's masquerade as Urza[NCW], which brought a few members to the clan, but
they simply did not persist. C-Lan parties remained consistent, but fewer people came to them, sometime with only two or three lonely players. It was at this point
that NCW was effectively closed. There was no announcement, but without the players the clan simply folded, to remain dormant for two long years.

Reformation

This all changed in the summer of 2007, when on May 19th many gamers hopes and dreams came to pass in the form of Blizzard's announcement of StarCraft II.
A flurry of emails were exchanged, and the majority agreed - NCW would return to StarCraft gaming. A site was quickly made and forums summoned, from which
NCW would begin their ride to the top once more. As the site came together, and more former members rallied round, a new mission statement was formed. To
attract new members, Clan NCW would push to have exclusive content, such as artwork, news, and downloads, that would convince gamers to stick around. This
was followed by the installation of a site counter, to inspire our members to greater heights. In the first day of the counter, so many unique hits were scored as interested
parties looked at the site from forum posted links, the counter's memory logs were filled completely to capacity, necessitating hasty backups of the data that would soon be
replaced. Many applied to join the clan, but only a few actually followed instructions and posted in the forums. With such growth, the future again seems bright for NCW.

As of this writing, NCW consists of ten members once more. We hope to continue to rise in size and prominence, and our members will be proud to be a part of NCW. There are still
many integral members of NCW missing, and we hope that they will rejoin us with all speed. Until StarCraft II is released, we intend to hold several StarCraft I scrimmages, to prepare ourselves and promote the ideals of the clan.
